Our entire kitchen had something of a nervous breakdown last month, so cooking anything was at a minimum for a variety of reasons. I managed (mostly before and after, not during) to make the revised no-knead bread from Cook's Illustrated, and again adding sunflower seeds and millet. It was better, I guess, but not that much improvement from the original.
As I was worrying about large amounts of butter going bad in a rapidly deteriorating fridge, I made these Irish Coffee brownies, which everyone liked except my roommate. I think the flavor was stronger the first day and then mellowed, but if you don't like whiskey or coffee in the first place...The glaze in the recipe was pretty necessary though to get a richer flavor.
I made molten chocolate cakes for my roommate's birthday since I figured the recipe had very little to object to. I also had been wanting to make them for a while since they were popular a couple of years ago and always mentioned as good dinner party desserts. I was scared to overcook them, and...I didn't. I undercooked them, but one came out nicely (ie, didn't fall apart upon turning it over) and were fairly impressive for the low amount of work put into them, and both roommates liked them. No pictures, as the time-sensitivity was stressful.
