started on sept. 7th, but the first cookies are from aug. 10th...

key lime meltaways (inspired by my roommate, who still hasn't made key lime pie again)
(incidentally, one roommate left and was replaced by another roommate, but since i don't ever differentiate, i see no reason to do so now)
cornbread, (from cook's illustrated i think?) which was not very good. it was okay right out of the oven, but i think i've realized and come to terms with the fact i like northern cornbread better.
i made this carrot cake, which was good, but more like carrot bread than a moister cake. new roommate and i demolished it over a weekend.
chocolate chip cookies, which were less than whelming. i didn't make them as big as suggested, or use fancy chips, but i didn't really see the point and don't think i liked the deeper (which was noticeable) flavor very much.
delightful potato and tomato foccacia. and this broccoli.
braided bread, which i made back in CT and liked enough to copy the recipe down. however, i this incarnation seemed very dry and i think i should have held off on the flour...i don't believe i've ever kneaded bread that didn't need flour added periodically, and this one certainly did not. so...i ate part of it, then made bread pudding, vaguely based on this recipe. it was much better than i expected, and was devoured in less than 24 hours.
(in actuality, half the loaf of bread, ~2 cups of hot milk, poured over cubes of bread, 2 eggs and 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg mixed in, 375F oven for about 40 minutes.)
based on the deliciousness of jello chocolate pudding, i tried making the jello "flan" pudding and it was gross.
finally, i made these peanut butter chocolate cookies for my friend's birthday. the one i tasted fresh from the oven was very good, and the rest went to her. i believe they were well received.

Sad...I have been unceremoniously replaced.

And damn do I miss your baking.

What's the difference between northern and southern corn bread?
